A Columbia, SC machine shop is currently seeking an experienced CNC Machinist. ** Must have at least 2 years of experience**

The company has been in business for over 35 years. Its services include repair, prototype, and production. Must be a self-starter and have the capability to read drawings and work without supervision.

Job Description:

  • Must have the capability to read drawings
  • Must have experience with Precision work
  • Correctly setup, run, diagnose, and edit programming on primarily Haas CNC Mills/ Lathes to meet daily production goals / small run prototype or repair quotes.
  • Tools and Machinery may include but not limited to: Haas CNC mills, Haas CNC lathes, Miyano BND twin spindle w/ live tooling, Haas tool room mill, prototrak, eztrak, bridgeport mills, engine lathes, manual mills, cylindrical grinders, surface grinders, and drill presses.
  • Lathe skills: Setup tools, tool offsets, work offsets, hand edit code, prove program and run.
  • Milling skills: Conventional, 2 axis CNC bridgeport, 3 axis verticals, and 4th axis knowledge. Must be able to setup tools, tools offsets, work offsets, hand edit code, prove programs and run.
  • Ability to read, understand, and diagnose CNC programs as well as follow proven work instructions.
  • Ability to use QA tools to verify dimensions and tolerances. Ex: Micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, trimics, height gauges, etc...
  • Ability to read and understand dimensional tolerances and geometric tolerances from blueprints.
  • Regularly performs milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing and sanding tasks.
  • Assists in other work areas to perform welding, and some fabrications.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and follow up with clarifying questions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Pay:

$16-$22/hr.

 

Job Requirements:

  • 3 years minimum on the job machining experience,
  • Must be fluent in setup, problem solving, G&M coding, and manual machining.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends and overtime when needed.
  • Must be punctual and reliable
  • Strong technical and math skills.
  • Ability to read and understand most G&M — CNC codes
  • Ability to diagnose and correct dimensional errors in machine programming
  • Ability to read, understand, and diagnose CNC programs
  • Must be able to hold tolerances of .0005 - .001
  • Ability to read and understand dimensional tolerances and geometric tolerances from blueprints.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
