The Group Leader is responsible for ensuring each production assembly cell is actively engaged to meet daily customer demand and production schedule. The Group Leader provides effective training to
the assembly cell and ensures safety and quality standards are maintained at all times.
Essential Functions Under the direction of the shift supervisor, the group leader will manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedule
Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company’s Quality System.
Execute and coordinate employee training to ensure that procedures are followed and meet all
Use basic problem-solving skills to ensure stable operation of the work cell.
Report issues or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor to Shift
Supervisor and or appropriate party.
Work closely with support staff such as Technicians, Manufacturing Engineering, Production
Supervisor, Materials/Warehouse to resolve issues.
Observe, maintain, coordinate and complete standard work.
Complete lot acceptance activities for assigned assembly cell.
Update production metrics and facilitate regular team communication.
Identify and support continuous improvement efforts with Production Supervisor.
Sustain and drive lean manufacturing and 5S activities.
Participate as an active member of the production assembly team and assembles products.
Follow detailed assembly instructions, processes and procedures.
Complete required documentation relating to business or regulatory requirements.
Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and with 1-2 years of entry-level supervisory experience in a manufacturing or high-volume environment.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English is required. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as; preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and or operation or machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distance close to the eyes.
The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change.
