 Role Summary/Purpose

 

Perform maintenance of support processes as directed and assigned in accordance with the applicable maintenance data to return components to airworthiness. Understand and follow policies and procedures.

 

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

Level I: Include the following as applicable to the department:

  • Ensure that flight safety is our permanent essential concern.
  • Maintain communication with the Production Leaders.
  • Maintain a clean working environment.
  • Follow the work instructions and regulations.
  • Participate in team EHS, quality, lean audits and meetings.
  • Participate in flow walk presentations.
  • Comply with all applicable quality, health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Perform multiple support process operations of multiple required parts within the production cell using the following processes:

  • Perform support process operations on production parts in accordance to written procedures and OEM standard practice safely.
  • Met Lab: Verify parts coupon preparation completed for support processes. Test Plasma Coatings.
  • Chem Line: Perform chemical cleaning processes on production parts in accordance to written procedures and OEM standard practice safely.
  • Heat Treat: Operate Heat Treatment equipment (Electrical Ovens).
  • Nickel Plating: Demonstrate basic knowledge of Nickel plating equipment and operation.
  • Sheetmetal: Apply cold work sheetmetal processes to re-shape the parts within tolerances by using measuring gauges. Assembly/disassembly of parts as needed.
  • Injection: Perform RTV Injection (Room Temperature Vulcanizing) process to all Booster engine models and stages. Restore drop dimension, sealing of the vanes per the engine manual specs.
  • Plasma: Prepare plasma coupons, operate and rebuild plasma equipment.
  • Analyze production plasma samples and verify compliance for support processes.
  • Initial Chemical EHS training and annual re-training.
  • Paint/Molydag: Prepare the paint, mask, blast, mix the paint, prepare the coupons for the sample test. Clean, maintain the paint equipment, oven, replace the filters.
  • Nickel Plating: Prepare and operate Brush Plating unit, basic chemical safety training, change solutions and filters, change anode covers, replace graphite anode when needed, use measuring gauges (bore gauge) and follow work instructions.
  • Shotpeening: Perform almen coupon intensity check and media qualification test. Upload the test results in excel file. Daily check inspection of all equipment per maintenance procedure. Perform Change of the water treatment system for the tumbles as needed.
  • Perform other Repair Technician tasks as needed.
  • Perform basic preventive equipment maintenance and maintain appropriate stock levels.

 

 

Level II: In addition to applicable Level I duties and responsibilities, a Level II include the following as applicable to the department:

  • Lead and positively influence others in a team based environment.
  • Actively participate in team events and work related activities.
  • Assist in training, evaluating, and signing all OJT training related forms for new or lower level employees.
  • Assist engineering with creating and modifying tools and fixtures.                                   
  • Assist engineering personnel in testing and evaluating equipment.
  • Assist engineering in new process development and lean projects.
  • Participate in customers presentations.

  • Chem Line: Maintain all chemical tanks by adding and removing chemicals. Operate the Scanocon chemical analyzing unit for FBC.
  • Heat Treat: Operate Heat Treatment equipment including Vacuum and Electrical Ovens. Perform equipment checks and assist in equipment calibration.
  • Plasma: Prepare plasma coupons, operate and rebuild plasma equipment.
  • Analyze production plasma samples and verify compliance for support processes.
  • Basic knowledge and equipment trouble shouting.
  • Paint: Prepare the paint, mask, blast, mix the paint, prepare the coupons for the sample test. Clean, maintain the paint equipment, oven, replace the filters. Basic knowledge and equipment trouble shouting.

Exception for FBC (multiple engine models and engines-exclusion to multiple cells)

  • Plasma/Paint: Support multiple product line plasma and painting operations to include but not limited to Sermatel W, Sermalloy.
  • Troubleshoot equipment for failures and malfunctions and provide support for maintenance and engineering.
  • Analyze sample data and work with engineering to identify failure modes and perform root cause analysis.
  • Met Lab: Verify parts coupon Metallurgical evaluation completed for support processes. Plasma Coatings including Tensil testing and Hardness testing coupons.
  • Test samples in pressure devices, acid baths, and other apparatus to determine strength, hardness, elasticity, toughness, or other properties of coating.
  • Nickel Plating: Perform Degas operation . Equipment preventive maintenance, chemical changing, filter replacement
  • Shotpeening: Troubleshoot the machine malfunction. Assist engineering
  • in equipment set-up (saturation curve).

Level I:

  • A high School diploma, GED or technical school.
  • A minimum of 0-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (ex: painting, plasma spraying, aviation experience preferred).
  • Familiar with chemical cleaning process.
  • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate English.
  • Basic Computer knowledge with ability to review online documents.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basic math skills.
  • Use and selection of inspection, test and measurement instruments.
  • Basic knowledge of machine operations.
  • Basic verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with others in a team based environment.
  • Flexibility to work first, second, third shift and weekends is required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate English.
  • Basic Computer knowledge with ability to review online documents.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basic math skills.
  • Basic verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret data including business metrics and technical information (ex Blueprint).
  • Ability to retain procedures and work instructions from trainer.
  • Working knowledge of lean principles.
  • Basic knowledge with measuring tooling (micrometer, gages..) is required.
  • Has experience, through training, knowledge, employment history or practical tests necessary to perform the scope of work assigned.
  • Proficient in using the tools, equipment, and inspection aids applicable to the scope of work assigned.
  • Understand the methods, techniques and practices outlined in the manufacturer’s maintenance documents, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, service letters, specifications, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA.
  • Retain procedures and work instructions from trainer.
  • Comply with all applicable quality, health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Working knowledge of lean principles.
  • Actively participate in team events and company activities.

 

Level II: In addition to all Level I and Level I requirements:

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of related experience and/or training. (ex: painting, plasma spraying, general aviation experience preferred).
  • Proficient computer skills required for the job.
